Steed attends the funeral of an acquaintance, Benson, at a lonely cemetery in Cornwall. he learns from Benson's son that his father died suddenly and was buried in Cornwall at his own request. Visiting cathy Cathy, Steed shows her newspaper cuttings announcing funeral services at the cemetery. The cemetery has not been so busy for years as the village nearby have become derelict. All the funerals have been for people who lived in London.
