Soon it appears the habitants of the village doesn't want him as a new-comer. he will be killed. When Emma arrives in the village she discovers something strange is going on. It seems you can kill anyone you want with the habitants of the village as witnesses and they deny everything in return for money. As Emma knows too much in the opinion of the habitants, she is nearly killed but Steed can rescue her in time.
